"I always wished to be just a pair of eyes, to explore the world without being seen, only to see others." — Jeanne Mammen

About Me

Although I initially trained as a chemist with a degree in Chemistry from Duke University and subsequent work at Rockefeller University, my passion for drawing and painting has been a constant since childhood. The art rooms throughout my formative years served as a sanctuary, allowing me to express myself creatively. In 2015, I fully committed to pursuing art as a profession. My journey took a significant turn after my first solo exhibition in 2018, leading me to Spain for classical atelier education at the Barcelona Academy of Art.

I started teaching art from my studio in 2016. Prior to this, I had laid the groundwork through different teaching experiences. As an educational researcher at BRAC, IED (Institute of Educational Development) leading the Arts Unit to develop arts based curriculum for primary and secondary schools for the BRAC Nobodhara School project and later designing arts integrated modules aligned with the Psycosocial , Sexual And Reproductive Health Rights and Gender curriculum for 33 urban schools; supervising 25 facilitators as part of the SSCOPE project culmintating in presenting my research at ICCIG (International Conference On Creativity And Innovation At/For/From/With Grassroots) 2015, Ahmedabad, India. In 2017, I travelled to Marpha, Nepal as a teaching fellow at Marpha Foundation, Nepal developing arts-based lessons for community school children at the local schools and the monastery,

Since then, I have focused on deepening my craft and completing commissions for clients primarily in Bangladesh and the United States. Working closely with clients has afforded me the opportunity to capture the essence of their experiences, resulting in unique commissions that resonate with personal significance. Through collaboration and artistic exploration, I continue to evolve my skills, ensuring that every commission is a heartfelt representation of the connections that inspire my work.

MEDIA

Over the years, I have shared my love for art by teaching workshops and longer courses in my studio and various venues, as well as online. My classes encompass a range of mediums including drawing, oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, and papier-mâché sculpture, aiming to inspire others to explore their creative potential.
